Allen & York are delighted to be partnering with BAM UK & Ireland to help secure an Environmental Sustainability Director to shape and deliver the next phase of their sustainability strategy. With sustainability core to the business, BAM are looking for an exceptional leader to drive the team and plan forward. You will inspire and challenge not only the sustainability team but the whole business - and clients, stakeholders and suppliers alike - to drive cultural change within BAM and across the industry.
With 6,500 employees in the UK & Ireland, and a revenue of £3bn, sustainability is key to BAM's continued growth and success. BAM has some ambitious targets and with a strong transformation programme and lots of great activities already in place, a fully embedded sustainability strategy will positively drive the culture of the business forward.
With a demonstrable knowledge of sustainability and technical understanding, you'll lead a team of technical experts, and will focus on the strategic direction to really embed sustainability throughout the company and drive change.
Reporting to the Transformation Director, you will have senior management team of seven direct line reports (Biodiversity and Carbon Leads and a number of Environmental Sustainability Business Partners), so management experience and great communication skills are key.
A team player, you'll work with the BAM Group Corporate Centre in the Netherlands, to ensure sustainability initiatives are aligned and that the overarching strategy is market leading. You'll also liaise with the communications team to create a clear and compelling narrative around sustainability.
Digitisation is crucial to BAM's market strategy, so experience of digitising and optimising environmental processes would be highly desirable, as is a good knowledge of sustainability and governance. You'll work with the supply chain and clients to influence their decisions - to put sustainability at the forefront of their thinking.
With compliance a key priority for the business, you'll ensure processes and procedures are in place and effective and you'll play a key role in developing strong proposals, increasing the share of work and increase pre-positioning with clients.
Experience of working within Civils, Construction or FM would be beneficial, however applications from those working within related sectors like manufacturing or engineering, would also be welcomed. With offices nationwide, location isn't a limiting factor, and there will be opportunities to travel nationally and internationally (as required).
