  • Our story began way back in 1993

    Founded in 1993 by Mark Allen, an environmental graduate, Allen & York was one of the first recruitment consultancies to specialise in Environment and Sustainability hiring. Inspired by his passion for the environment, Mark began to form what would become lifelong partnerships with environmental organisations across the world.

  • We continue to grow into new markets

    The end of the 90s saw Allen & York establish a new Corporate Health and Safety Division to support recruitment in the HSE sector. Aligned with our environmental offer, we remain committed to helping ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of people in the workplace.

  • Picking up awards along the way

    The new millennium saw the first of many awards won by this niche Recruitment Consultancy. The Investors in People Award was presented by Sir Adrian Cadbury and cemented our commitment not only to the markets we recruit in, but also to the people who make Allen & York a great place to work.

  • Evolving our offer in a changing landscape

    Half way through the 2000’s saw the establishment of a new Planning & Built Environment Recruitment Division to support the Green Building sectors. Resourcing in the Sustainable building sector, environmentally responsible and resource-efficient, ensures we’re doing our bit to help our clients do all they can for the planet.

  • Bringing bags of Energy and enthusiasm

    Driven to serve the wider Sustainability community, we built an Energy team to hire for Energy Services and Renewable Energy to support the Renewables and Green Energy Sectors. With technical understanding and a drive to support clean energy recruitment, Energy remains a core offer within Allen & York.

  • Continuing to deliver Sustainable Recruitment Solutions

    With the growing focus on sustainable practices, it was a natural progression for us to establish a new Sustainability Division. Designed to support Sustainability and Green Corporate Governance, we are proud to have been one of the first niche recruiters to be working in the space.

  • With specialist Researchers making a difference

    With moves in the market and technological advancements, it made sense for us to create a specialist Research Division to support the delivery of Strategic, Executive & C- Suite hires. With an in-house team, we’re able to ensure that we use the most focussed and effective research techniques and cutting-edge search tools to reduce time to hire and find the best matches for all of our clients. 

  • We're a far cry from your usual recruiters

    2016 saw a move for the business – quite literally. Situated in beautiful countryside offices, our new HQ in Farrs House and Gardens in Wimborne, Dorset meant our ethos and our culture could be combined in one physical space. An 18th century property, steeped in history, Farrs House appears in the Historic England website and was the inspiration for the Thomas Hardy novel "Barbara of the House of Grebe".

  • Celebrating 25 years of purpose-led recruiting

    We were pleased to celebrate our 25th Anniversary in the recruitment sector in 2018. As pioneers in environmental recruitment, we’ve come a long way and our core sectors of Environment, Energy, Sustainability, Health, Safety and Wellbeing continue to be areas that we’re incredibly proud to recruit within.
