Allen & York are delighted to be working with a global chemicals company who are now looking to recruit an Environmental Lead to manage the Team of environmental professionals and also to work closely with your counterparts in quality, process engineering and safety to drive improvements and ensure compliance with environmental legislation. My client is the world's leading manufacturer of their product, which is used in a variety of different uses to enhance them.

Reporting into the SHEQ Manager, your experience of having worked in a manufacturing/process industry previously will be advantageous as this is a high hazard (Upper Tier COMAH site). Previous experience of Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999 would be a distinct advantage.
My client is a member of the UK ETS as well and so prior experience of having worked with this scheme would be beneficial and smoothen the transition. There are systems in place already but you'll need to manage and maintain these and make further amendments and improvements.
You'll have extensive experience of ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 50001:2015, be an auditor to one if not both and you'll have excellent communication skills as you'll be the senior point of contact with The Environment Agency. You'll be adept at applying for permits, consents and licences, ensuring compliance with legislation and preparing Environmental Impact Assessments.
In addition, your experience of having investigated environmental incidents and resolving these is important and ensuring safe standard work practices are maintained.
You will have prior experience of having managed Teams, driving consistent high performance and ensuring you have a happy, productive Team of environmental professionals.
Based in the North of England on the Humber, you will be required to work on site every day, given the nature of the role and the fact you're managing the Team but there is the option to work from home on occasion, to prepare a report for example and this would be agreed on an ad-hoc basis with your manager. They do however, work a 9-day fortnight so you'll be off every other Friday, which will aid to a better work-life balance. You'll need to be within driving distance of the site and hold a valid driving licence as the site isn't accessible via train or public transport.
