Freshwater Partnerships & Development Manager (Two Year Contract)
We at Allen & York are incredibly excited to be partnering with the leading independent funder Esmée Fairbairn Foundation to support recruitment of this important role.
About the role:
As Freshwater Partnerships and Development Manager, you will play a key role in developing the networks and relationships to enable and inform Esmée Fairbairn Foundation's support for freshwater environments across the UK.
Key to this role is the ability to rapidly establish, facilitate and develop relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including community groups, scientists, investors, business and interest groups. We expect to work with well established and embryonic partnerships, so experience and understanding of multisector working is essential. You will need excellent communication and influencing skills.

The successful candidate will not only be passionate about contributing to environmental outcomes but ensuring that vibrant, confident communities are at the centre of that change. New approaches and partnerships will be needed and we are looking for a thoughtful and creative candidate
About The Esmee Fairbairn Foundation
They aim to improve our natural world, secure a fairer future and strengthen the bonds in communities in the UK. To contribute to these aims, in 2021 they provided over £54 million in grants to organisations as well as using a £45 million fund for social investment to support organisations creating social impact.
In relation to improving our natural world, they are working with others to contribute to three key impact goals by 2030.

Key responsibilities
Gather evidence of best practice in place-based work that can be applied to freshwater, with a particular focus on innovation and unusual partnerships. What is working and why?
Build and maintain relationships with partners on freshwater in areas where support has the greatest potential to make a significant and lasting difference
Identify and develop innovative approaches to addressing freshwater issues.
Assist in developing recommendations for support.
Consider the role of all tools in driving better outcomes (e.g. grants, investment, convening).
Advise on how we can measure the impact of our work on freshwater and be proactive in communicating the learning.
Skills and experience
Understand the state of the environment in the UK and the roles and responsibilities of different sectors and organisations. An understanding of water stewardship would be desirable, particularly if you have ideas about how it could work better.
Experience of successful project design, management, delivery and evaluation.
Experience in gathering evidence from multiple sources and presenting findings.
Creativity, flair and imagination. Naturally curious with the ability to identify and generate unorthodox approaches.
A skilled communicator with experience of engaging a wide range of audiences.
Confident in the use of Microsoft Office software.

Tactful and diplomatic with outstanding interpersonal & communication skills.

Willing and able to travel across the UK where and as required, including for overnight stays.

Office location: Kings Cross, London N1 - there may be opportunity for some remote working. The role will require travel to different parts of the UK,
Annual salary: Range: £42,000 - £46,000
Hours: The post is offered on a full-time basis, however we would also be interested in talking to suitable candidates who may want to work reduced or flexible working hours (please indicate in your application).
Role type: Contract - up to two years. We are happy to consider secondments from your current organisation.
