Job Title: Cable Inspector (Fiber Optic)

Position Overview

We seek a skilled and detail-oriented Cable Inspector specialising in Fiber Optic Cables to join our team. The successful candidate will conduct inspections, quality assessments, and troubleshooting activities related to Fiber Optic Cables. The role requires Fiber Optic Cable installation expertise, adherence to industry standards, and proficiency in identifying and addressing FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) issues.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fiber Optic Cable Inspection:
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of Fiber Optic Cables to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Verify cable installations, terminations, and connectors to guarantee optimal performance.
- Perform visual inspections and utilise testing equipment to identify and rectify potential issues.

2. Factory Acceptance Test (FAT):
- Execute FAT procedures for Fiber Optic Cables to assess their functionality and compliance with design specifications.
- Collaborate with project teams and vendors to coordinate and conduct FAT activities.
- Generate reports documenting FAT results and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.

3. Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs):
- Identify and document NCRs during cable inspections and FAT processes.
- Investigate the root causes of NCRs and collaborate with the quality control team to implement corrective actions.
- Maintain detailed records of NCRs, corrective actions taken, and follow-up inspections.

4. Testing and Troubleshooting:
- Utilize testing equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, and light sources to troubleshoot and diagnose Fiber Optic Cable issues.
- Work closely with technical teams to promptly resolve any connectivity or performance-related problems.

5. Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare detailed inspection and testing reports, summarising findings and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of cable installations, inspections, and testing activities.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience as a Cable Inspector focusing on Fiber Optic Cables.
- In-depth knowledge of Fiber Optic Cable installations, terminations, and testing procedures.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to Fiber Optic Cables.
- Experience conducting Factory Acceptance Tests and addressing Non-Conformance Reports.
- Proficiency in using testing equipment such as OTDRs, power meters, and light sources.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Education and Certifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in Fiber Optic Cable testing and inspection.
