Job description
Associate Director - Heritage
£Competitive +, Remote
We are seeking an experienced Senior Heritage Consultant or Associate Director to join a well-established environmental consultancy. In this key role, you will manage a diverse portfolio of heritage-related projects, providing expert advice to clients on planning processes, and contribute to new business opportunities. You will use your skills to navigate a fast-paced, commercial environment, and work collaboratively with a talented team of professionals.
The role offers flexibility with full-time home working, although site visits and meetings are required, particularly focusing on projects in London and the Southeast. You will also have the chance to collaborate with specialists across various fields, including archaeology, ecology, landscape planning, and more.
Key responsibilities include preparing heritage impact assessments, providing expert advice at various stages of development (from feasibility to appeals), and acting as an expert witness when required. Your role will also involve growing the consultancy's client base through networking and maintaining excellent client relationships.
To be successful, you will need a minimum of five years' experience in a relevant role, a strong understanding of planning and heritage legislation, and the ability to assess the impact of changes on heritage assets. Membership with IHBC and experience with EIA assessments are essential. Expert witness experience is desirable but not mandatory.
In return, you'll receive a competitive salary, private healthcare, a 5% pension contribution, and the opportunity to work in a supportive, dynamic environment that fosters professional growth.
If you are passionate about heritage and looking to advance your career in a respected consultancy, we would love to hear from you.
